Meet the Broker- Magda’s journey from Au Pair to Mortgage Advisor
When I look back over the last twenty years, I sometimes surprise myself with how the journey unfolded. I came to the UK from Poland just over two decades ago as a university graduate with a suitcase, big hopes, and plenty of uncertainty. My first role here, believe it or not, wasn’t in finance or property. I arrived as an Au Pair. I was focused on learning the language, understanding a new culture, and building a stable life from the ground up.
Over time, my career naturally progressed into accounting roles within manufacturing companies. I enjoyed working with numbers and understanding how businesses function behind the scenes. That experience led me into banking and financial services, a move that would quietly shape the career I have today.
Alongside work, I built a life I am deeply grateful for. I am a wife and a mum of two, and we now live in Chester in the Northwest. We love it here. Although balancing family life with professional ambition has never been easy, it has always mattered to me. My children keep me grounded and constantly remind me why helping people achieve security through homeownership feels so personal.
A defining moment came through my brother’s experience. He joined me in the UK a year after I arrived, worked hard in a factory, and saved consistently for a deposit. When he was finally ready to buy his first home, he met with an in-house adviser at a large estate agency. I attended the appointment to help with language and clarity.
Despite his steady income and regular overtime, he was told his affordability was not sufficient and that no lender would accept his application. He left feeling disappointed and confused, and eventually gave up on buying altogether. At the time, we did not understand that there were different types of advisers or that independent whole of market brokers existed. We believed the options presented were the only ones available.
That moment stayed with me. It was the point where my interest in mortgages became a purpose.
I wanted to help people avoid that same frustration and missed opportunity. I joined Lloyds Banking Group and qualified as a Mortgage Adviser, learning how lenders assess applications and make decisions. Later, I moved into a large estate agency, gaining a full view of the property journey from offer to completion and strengthening my understanding even further.

In 2020, Covid changed everything. Like many parents, I stepped away from employment to care for my children. It was a challenging time, but it also gave me the push I needed to take control of my future. I became a self employed, independent mortgage adviser with access to the whole of market, and Mortgage Resolution Ltd was created.
Today, my approach is shaped by every step of that journey. I understand lenders, the property process, and the emotions clients experience along the way. I believe in clear advice, honest conversations, and finding solutions that genuinely fit each individual situation. No two clients are the same, and every goal matters.
If you are thinking about buying, remortgaging, or simply want clarity around your options, I would love to help. Your future deserves the right support. Reach out when you are ready.
